Northeastern University, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the University of New Hampshire have joined together to form the Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing (CHN) to answer these questions. It is one of the very few research centers in the nation to focus solely on developing economically viable fabrication processes to bring inventions into commercial production, and do so more quickly than the usual multi-decade time frame.
CHN integrates the intellectual and scientific power of the three universities. Their complementary strengths, cross-disciplinary expertise, and corporate connections position CHN well to discover innovative answers to the wide-ranging challenges of nanomanufacturing. Northeastern brings its leadership in MEMs as well as surface contamination and defects. UMass Lowell adds its internationally recognized proficiency in plastics and materials. UNH offers expertise in the synthesis and assembly of novel molecules and materials. Together, they are united in the goal of bringing the social – and financial – benefits of nanotechnology to the world.
